Privacy
Polka is an app that brings your coursework together on your computer. This page explains what information Polka collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Last updated October 22, 2026.
Information kept on your device
Polka connects to your school's learning platform as you, from your computer. What it reads there, such as your courses, assignments, grades and messages, is kept on your device so the app can work quickly and offline. So is what you make in Polka, such as notes, saved items, plans and settings. This information is not sent to us.
Information we collect
When you create a Polka account, we collect:
- your email address;
- your name, if you give one;
- how you sign in, and basic details your sign-in provider shares with us, such as your name and email address;
- records of the sign-in emails we send you, and technical information such as your device type and a non-identifying form of your network address, used to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
If you write to us with the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, and use them only to answer you.
Like most online services, our providers may also keep standard technical logs.
How we use it
We use this information to create and run your account, sign you in, send you messages about your account, keep the service secure, and improve Polka. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
AI features
Polka can work with an AI assistant you choose to set up with your own account from its provider. When you use it, what you ask, and the course material it uses to answer, goes to that provider and is covered by their terms and privacy policy, not this one.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run Polka, such as hosting, account and email services, and the sign-in providers you choose to use. They may use it only to provide those services to us. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Content your courses link to or embed comes from other websites, whose own privacy policies apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while you have an account. Records of sign-in emails are kept for a limited time, then deleted.
Your choices
You can change your name, or delete your account, in Polka's settings. Deleting your account removes your account information from our service. Information kept on your device stays there until you remove it. You can also contact us to ask about, correct or delete your information.
Children
Polka is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
